The conceptual roots of psychosomatic medicine in China are deeply embedded in profound traditional culture. Thatcan be dated back to the pre-Qin period. However, its establishment as an independent discipline just began in the 1990s. From an international perspective, psychosomatic medicine is undergoing a profound paradigm shift. In other words, it evolves from a single attribution model of " psychological illness" to a patient-centered interdisciplinary integrated medical model. There also is a significanttrend towards community and digitalization. In the domestic context, the practice of psychosomatic medicine in China exhibits three distinctive localized characteristics. The first is to rely on the " familycommunity" strong social network care mode. The second is tointegrate traditional philosophical ideas such as " unity of heaven andman" into the modern diagnosis and treatment system. The third is toleverage artificial intelligence technology to reshape the form andbreadth of mind body services. Despite its rapid development, thefield remains hindered by several challenges including scarcity of interdisciplinary professionals, inefficient payment mechanisms and deficiency of high-quality evidence-based data. This paper aims to systematically review the evolutionary trajectories of psychosomatic medicine both globally and in China. A specific focus on its historical origins, current characteristics and empowering pathways provided by artificial intelligence
